Don’t get me wrong, I love my digital calendar that automatically updates, dings alarms at me when I should be somewhere, and syncs across my devices. But what kept happening was my kids didn’t have access to it so they didn’t realize they had a game that night, or I was working and wouldn’t be home, or that we had a family party.
In came a wall calendar. A good old fashion wall calendar. Mine is in my laundry room just inside the back door where everyone can see it everyday. No more excuses when your uniform didn’t get brought down to the laundry room and you have a game. No more “I didn’t know” you wouldn’t be here to take me somewhere. It has made them more responsible for their schedules while allowing everyone to see the goings-ons for the week.
Here’s what I do:
1. The last day of the month (ish), I erase the board and input the monthly schedule.
2. Some like to use different colors for each person.
3. Each Sunday I review it and update any changes.
4. It’s totally worth it to me for the small amount of time it takes to keep my family on the same page.
We offer 3 sizes: 24×36, 18×24, & 18×18. You choose gold, silver or black standoff.
