One of the hardest times of each day is meal time! I swear 3:00 rolls around and I haven’t planned or even thought of the answer to the dreaded “What’s for dinner?” questions that I know my family will be asking me soon.
In comes the meal planning board!! I plan mine on Sundays for the week. The 18×24 size is my favorite and hangs in my pantry. I LOVE the spot for Meals We ♥ because it’s my go to for dinners I know my family will eat and are easy to fix when our crazy schedules make dinnertime a small window.
Here’s what I like to do:
1. Check for items we need to use or have a ton of already. ie chicken, fresh broccoli, cream, etc.
2. Compare our evening schedule, from the Calendar Board, to see who’s going to be home and what needs I need to cook.
3. Match up the items we need to use with meals we like and add them to the days of the week we need dinners.
4. Write down additional items needed to complete the meals that we should pick up from the store.
5. Place my online order for Monday pickup and VOILA all ready for the week.
6. I have also used my board to assign meals to my hubby or kids so they know the nights they are in charge of.
7. I use the MISC area for warehouse shopping like Costco or Sam’s Club items and the GROCERY area for my regular stores like Smiths, Walmart, etc.
8. One other tip I do when I’m not doing online grocery pickup, is to write the needed grocery items on the square where it corresponds to in the store layout. For example milk is in the back right corner of my go-to grocery store so I write MILK in the top right corner of my square. Then I snap a pic of the board before I go and it makes it super easy to pick everything up that I need.
Having a system makes it so much easier for me and my family. Our Meal Plan board comes in 2 sizes: 18×24 with quick dinner idea space or 9×12. You choose gold, black or silver standoffs.
